Things to do on a day of festivals and traditions in Tavernes
A day to discover Tavernes through festivals, music and local traditions
There are moments when Tavernes cannot be understood only through its landscape, beaches or routes, but also through the way the city celebrates, comes together and turns its streets into places full of atmosphere, emotion and identity. Here, festivals and traditions are part of the way the city is experienced. Some dates are deeply rooted in the Valencian calendar, popular celebrations fill the night with people and music, major festivals have projected Tavernes beyond its immediate surroundings, and summer events combine food, culture and open-air atmosphere.
This page is not intended to place every celebration on the same level. It is designed to help you understand the most important festivals in Tavernes and the kind of experience each one offers. You can discover the more traditional side of the city, enjoy its most popular and participatory atmosphere, look for major music events or find festive plans that fit perfectly into a getaway or a visit to La Valldigna.

Start with one of the great Valencian festivals
The first major reference is Fallas. In Tavernes, as in many Valencian cities, Fallas are much more than a few festive days: they combine ephemeral art, street life, community, fire and identity. Tavernes has six Fallas commissions, and the main celebration takes place between 15 and 19 March, with well-known events such as the prize-giving, the flower offering, the mass in honour of Saint Joseph and the cremà of the monuments. Local Fallas history has already passed the half-century mark with the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Falla Portal de Valldigna, the first commission in the city.
It is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a lively experience, with plenty of movement in the streets, events spread over several days and an atmosphere that transforms the daily rhythm of the city. Tavernes feels different when Fallas arrive, and that shared feeling is part of its appeal. The commissions, the Local Fallas Board and the joint events make the celebration recognisable and easy to understand for visitors too.

Discover the most popular and participatory side of the festive calendar
The Major Festivals occupy a central place because they are among the celebrations with the greatest capacity to bring people together and create atmosphere. The City Council places them in the second week of September, with a programme designed for all audiences and a strong emphasis on music, popular events and street life. These festivals are also linked to the local patron saints, the Santíssim Crist de la Sang and the Divina Aurora, and include significant moments such as the descent and ascent of the Christ and the procession of the Divina Aurora.
Three moments stand out for their popular and tourist appeal: the opening of the carrers engalanats, paella night and costume night. The first brings together that very Valencian, social way of gathering around food, fire and group atmosphere. The second is one of the most colourful and memorable nights, with huge participation, a strong festive mood and an image of the city as active, open and fun. Added to this are other powerful moments such as the brass band festival, live music, fireworks and pyrotechnics, which give the Major Festivals a very complete dimension.

Experience tradition, the religious calendar and another way of seeing the city
Holy Week represents another layer of Tavernes, more closely linked to tradition, the religious calendar and a way of experiencing the city through solemnity, gathering and shared ceremonies. The municipal programme continues to highlight liturgical events and processions, and local tradition preserves recognisable moments such as the Procession of the Encounter, which appears repeatedly in the city’s historical and institutional programming.
For visitors who come to Tavernes on these dates, it is also an opportunity to see a different type of atmosphere, far from the major summer nights or music festivals. Alongside the religious component and the processions, the beach and coastline of Tavernes usually see a lot of activity during these days, with services opening earlier and a high number of visitors, which also reinforces the city’s street life and leisure atmosphere.

Festivern
From a very different perspective, Festivern is one of the events that has given Tavernes the greatest external projection in the musical and youth sphere. It is presented as a major music festival in Valencian, with a camping area, parallel activities and several stages, usually at the end of December. It is a very particular way to experience the turn of the year, with a strong identity of its own and a loyal audience that associates Tavernes with this experience. With a regular attendance of around 15,000 people, it is one of the major music events linked to the city.
It is one of the celebrations that best shows Tavernes’ ability to host events that go beyond the local scale. For many people, Festivern is not just a festival, but a recognisable date in the end-of-year music calendar, with an intense atmosphere and strong external projection.

Del Poble Fest
Along similar lines, but with its own personality, Del Poble Fest also stands out. Its first edition brought together 17,500 attendees and combined live music, food and a festive atmosphere. For 2026, the festival has announced a new edition on 19 and 20 June, strengthening its profile as a major popular pop and rock event for a wide audience. In addition, the food proposal Gastro League forms part of the venue experience, with food trucks and an additional leisure and restaurant area.

Sete Sóis Sete Luas
The Sete Sóis Sete Luas festival is the most international cultural event in Tavernes, focused on artistic exchange between Mediterranean countries and the Portuguese-speaking world. With more than 30 years of history in the city, it stands out for offering a programme of world music, fado and visual arts inspired by the values of peace and culture associated with Nobel Prize winner José Saramago.
Music and gastronomy at Sete Sóis Sete Luas
The festival experience goes beyond music by including workshops and gastronomic tastings led by international chefs. This allows attendees to discover flavours from countries such as Cape Verde or Portugal before the concerts, which take place in emblematic spaces such as Clot de la Font, the Parc del Llac and the Hermitage of Sant Llorenç.

Think of a great summer night by the sea
Sant Joan is one of the dates that best connects Tavernes with its most Mediterranean and emotional side. It is a very special night, associated with fire, the beach, the symbolic arrival of summer and a shared way of experiencing the coastline. It takes place between 23 and 24 June, and it is one of those celebrations that fits very well into a tourism experience because it combines the value of the place with the strength of a festive ritual.
For many people, Sant Joan is one of the most magical nights of the calendar. Tavernes adds its own context: sea, sand, atmosphere and a collective festive feeling that fits perfectly with a summer getaway or a visit designed to experience more than just a beach day. It is the kind of night when people dine by the sea, gather around the fire and keep popular customs alive, such as going to the water at midnight, jumping the waves or the bonfires, enjoying the correfoc and the festive atmosphere of the coast.

Look for a more gastronomic summer atmosphere in the afternoon and evening
The Gastro Week Tavernes occupies a very interesting place because it offers a different experience, closely linked to summer atmosphere, food, music and open-air leisure. The latest edition took place from 21 August to 7 September in Parc del Llac, with food trucks, concerts, comedy, fashion shows and attendance of more than 5,000 people.
It is a very good option for anyone looking for a more relaxed afternoon and evening plan, where the focus is not so much on a popular street celebration as on eating, listening to music, moving around a pleasant space and enjoying the atmosphere. It works very well as a complementary proposal within the summer calendar and helps project a current, open image of Tavernes.

Enjoy a summer event full of life and atmosphere
The Fira de Sant Jaume is one of the major summer references in Tavernes. With more than thirty editions, it stands out for bringing together music, tradition and activities for the whole family. Usually held in Parc del Llac, its programme combines crafts, traditional products, folk performances and musical atmosphere at the end of July.
It is a very good option for anyone looking for Tavernes beach at its liveliest, with movement, the feeling of an important date and an atmosphere that fits perfectly into a summer visit. The Fira de Sant Jaume also has the ability to connect tradition and contemporary atmosphere without losing its identity, which is why it remains one of the great moments of the local summer.
