Beaches
The beaches of Tavernes de la Valldigna combine fine sand, Mediterranean scenery and natural areas of great environmental value. From La Goleta to Els Marenys, this coastline offers places to relax, practise water sports and enjoy a unique setting between the sea, the dunes and the orange groves.
Beaches

LA GOLETA BEACH
Fine sandy beach. Its proximity to La Goleta lake gives to it a great potential, as a resting area and feeding ground for migratory birds, mainly waders such as the Kentish plover. It also plays a very important role in attracting numerous nesting species, especially aquatic birds.
The beach has a sailing school and outdoor sports facilities.
The Blue Flag award and the Q for Quality certificate, held by the two beaches, guarantee that they meet quality and safety criteria.

TAVERNES BEACH
The beaches of Tavernes de la Valldigna are bordered by orange groves that almost reach the sea. The afternoon wind and the calm morning waters make them ideal for water sports.
Both La Goleta Beach and Tavernes Beach are perfect for family holidays. The quality of their fine golden sand, with untouched areas covered by dunes, makes them very pleasant for swimming and relaxing.
Both beaches have accessible bathing areas adapted for people with reduced mobility.

ELS MARENYS BEACH
On the dune ridge, which still remains unspoilt, there are native animals and plants that allow a delicate transition between the fertile orange grove landscape and the breaking waves on the sand. Among the wildlife are birds such as the Kentish plover and Mediterranean turtles.
These three kilometres of dunes linking the municipal boundaries of Tavernes and Xeraco, have flora and fauna typical of coastal habitats and are rich in endemic species.
Here you will find a beach where you can enjoy tranquillity, nature and, why not, water sports.

LA VALL WATCHTOWER
La Vall watchtower is a fortress that formed part of the 16th-century defensive network built to protect the Valencian coast from Barbary pirate attacks.
The tower in Tavernes is the tallest and most slender in the former Kingdom of Valencia, with very well-preserved stonework. In addition to the ground floor, it has three upper floors and a terrace, but no stairs, which suggests that ladders were used and, when removed, made the tower easier to defend.
There is a picnic area and, during the summer season, numerous outdoor activities are held nearby.

EL MOLLÓ AND THE WINDOW
El Molló marks the boundary between jurisdictions and this particular one is a singular divider between the municipal boundaries of Tavernes and Cullera. It was erected at the beginning of the 14th century. King Jaume II the Just decided to mark out the Valldigna territory after donating the lands to the religious community that founded the Monastery of Santa Maria de Valldigna.
It was built using rammed earth and stone and, originally, it was decorated with two stone carvings: one with the image of Our Lady of Valldigna and another with the coat of arms of the Crown of Aragon.
If we walk towards the sea, we find a peculiar open window inviting us to look out onto the beach and contemplate the Mediterranean from a privileged spot.

ULLALS
These are concentrated surface springs of groundwater in the marshlands, which occur when the water table cuts the topographic surface or when the flow of groundwater is concentrated in more permeable areas.
In Tavernes there are the Ullal Gran, Ullal del Gat and Ullal de les Penyetes. This is a wetland area linked to a water spring, surrounded by citrus crops. It belongs to the marshland ecosystem and provides refuge for various species of marsh birds, ducks and herons.
At Ullal de les Penyetes, work is currently being carried out so visitors can enjoy the place whether they want to take part in the Route of the Senses or simply spend the day there. When you arrive, tables and benches invite you to relax, and an adapted route has been created for people with reduced physical or sensory abilities. The route ends in a historic orange orchard.

Summer begins with Saint John’s Night, featuring children’s activities in the evening and a correfoc at night.

And let us not forget the younger crowd. Orchestra concerts and musicals complete the programme.
If sport is more your thing, on the first Friday of August more than 2,000 runners compete to be the first to cross the finish line in the beach road race. Rugby also has its big day with the celebration of beach rugby sevens.
Tradition also has its place with the Pesca amb rall championship. And for the little ones, every year there are children’s activities to truly enjoy: games, face painting, crafts and a musical for the whole family.
