A route to read the landscape

It is a proposal designed to discover the environmental value of Tavernes, promote sustainable tourism and understand the importance of water, the coast, the market gardens and the mountains.

About 14 km

A long route to enjoy without rushing, crossing natural spaces and transition areas between the beach and the inland landscape.

Time

Approx. 3 h 30 min

It is best planned as a half-day activity, especially if you want to stop and observe the landscape and the interpretive resources.

The four ecosystems of the route

To avoid information panels with Spanish text embedded in the images, this version rebuilds the information as translatable and accessible HTML content.

Dune ecosystem

The living coastline

The dunes show the fragility and beauty of the seafront, with vegetation adapted to wind, salt and sand. They are a key space for protecting the beach and conserving coastal biodiversity.

Marshland ecosystem

Water and biodiversity

The springs and wetlands are linked to groundwater and provide a refuge for wildlife. They help explain the relationship between La Valldigna, water and its most sensitive natural spaces.

Agricultural ecosystem

Market gardens and crops

The fields and agricultural tracks explain the historical relationship between Tavernes, water and working the land. This landscape helps read the rural identity of the municipality.

Forest ecosystem

The shade of the mountains

The forest section brings the route close to the landscape of the Ombria and to the inland natural areas of Tavernes, with Mediterranean vegetation and a sense of natural shelter.

More than a route: an environmental good practice

The Ruta dels Sentits is also a project to restore coastal natural and ethnological heritage, with social, educational and tourism benefits. Its value lies in combining landscape, accessibility, participation and environmental conservation.

The route includes information resources designed to make the visit easier, with QR codes and explanatory audio guides in Valencian, Spanish and English.

Environmental education

Learning from the territory

The ecosystems along the route make it possible to work on environmental conservation, biodiversity and the relationship between coast, water, market gardens and mountains.

Local participation

A shared route

The improvement and maintenance of the route have been linked to local initiatives, employment workshops, volunteering and educational activities.

An experience to enjoy calmly

The Ruta dels Sentits is not just a natural itinerary. It is also a way to understand the relationship between natural spaces, the memory of the territory and the wellbeing of the people who visit it.

The route is especially interesting for families, schools and visitors looking for a calm, respectful activity connected with the nature of Tavernes.

Before doing the route, check the weather, bring water, sun protection and comfortable footwear. Some sections may be more exposed to the sun, especially during the hottest months.

Flora, fauna and reading the landscape

The route lets you observe how the landscape changes and how each ecosystem preserves its own species, forms of life and environmental values.
