Professional area
This section brings together professional information about the main tourism quality awards and certifications held by Tavernes de la Valldigna. The city has distinctions linked to environmental quality, tourism management, safety, beach services and the continuous improvement of the visitor experience.
The awards listed below help explain why Tavernes is a consolidated destination for beach, nature and quality tourism, with special attention to its beaches, environmental routes and destination management systems.
An international eco-quality tourism award
The Blue Flag is one of the most widely recognised environmental awards internationally. It is awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education, through ADEAC in Spain, and assesses destination sustainability through criteria related to environmental information and education, water quality, environmental management, safety and services.
The beaches of Tavernes de la Valldigna and La Goleta have held this award since 1987. This long-standing record recognises continuous work in service maintenance, environmental monitoring, accessibility, cleaning, user information and conservation of the coastal environment.
Health monitoring during the bathing season
Bathing water quality is an essential indicator for safety, confidence and the tourism experience on the beaches. In Tavernes, bathing waters are analysed weekly during the period from July to mid-September.
This monitoring makes it possible to follow the health status of bathing areas and reinforces the destination's commitment to responsible coastal management, transparent information and the wellbeing of residents and visitors.
The Ruta dels Sentits, recognised since 2016
The Blue Trails programme, promoted by ADEAC, recognises routes that contribute to the recovery, interpretation and enhancement of natural and cultural heritage. These routes are linked to environmental education, enjoyment of nature and awareness of territorial conservation.
In Tavernes, the Ruta dels Sentits has held this award since 2016. The itinerary offers a sensory route that connects beach and mountain and helps interpret the dune ecosystem, the marshland, the agricultural landscape and the forest environment.
Continuous improvement of the tourism destination
Tavernes de la Valldigna is part of the SICTED project, the Comprehensive Tourism Quality System in Destinations. It is an initiative of Spain's State Secretariat for Tourism, supported by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, aimed at improving destination quality from an integrated perspective.
The system promotes coordination among destination stakeholders, the identification of shared objectives and the implementation of good practices to offer visitors a consistent level of quality. Its approach is not limited to one specific establishment, but understands quality as a shared responsibility across the destination.
A guarantee of quality, safety and professionalism
The Q for Tourism Quality is a guarantee mark recognised in the Spanish tourism sector. It certifies that a tourism organisation or service meets specific technical requirements and has a management system focused on the customer, continuous improvement and the delivery of a professional service.
Since 2016, the Q for Tourism Quality flag has flown on both beaches in the municipality, Tavernes and La Goleta. This distinction strengthens the image of the beaches as spaces managed according to criteria of quality, safety, professionalism and visitor care.
A line of work applied to the destination as a whole
Tourism distinctions are not isolated elements: they are part of a destination strategy based on quality, sustainability, safety and service improvement. In Tavernes, these awards are especially linked to beaches, environmental itineraries and municipal tourism management.
The aim is to maintain an organised, reliable destination prepared for different visitor profiles, while preserving Tavernes de la Valldigna's own identity and the relationship between sea, city, mountains and natural landscape.
